YouTube Live now streaming select partners in real time

Not content with limiting its dominance in streaming uploaded videos, YouTube is now ready to take on competitors like Justin.TV and Ustream. The new YouTube Live service is being rolled out to select YouTube partners and will enable real-time broadcasting. In its official announcement, Google states that "The goal is to provide thousands of partners with the capability to live stream from their channels in the months ahead."

You can check out live broadcasts at http://www.youtube.com/live, where you'll also find a schedule of upcoming episodes from beta partners like Revision3 and Destructoid. You're also able to subscribe to YouTube Live broadcasts -- which will ensure you're notified when a new episode is coming up.

Hauppauge Broadway review

New ways to watch TV, we're always looking for 'em. New products for you to buy, companies are always trying to make 'em. The two aspirations converge with Hauppauge's latest product, Broadway. The idea here isn't exactly novel, but with few exceptions Sling Media has been left to dominate the placeshifting category. The Broadway picks up where Sling kicked off, adding WiFi and more interestingly, shedding the need for costly clients, instead using a built-in web server to access the live video streams. Interesting idea, sure, but is it actually useful and worth the $199 it demands? We hope to reveal just that, after you click through of course.

Apache outs version 2.4 of its HTTP server six years after last full release

Apache outs version 2.4 of its HTTP server six years after last full releaseIt's been half a dozen years since Apache last released a new version of its venerable HTTP server, but the day has finally come for version 2.4 to be unveiled to the world. Granted, the old Apache was doing fine -- it's been the most prolific web server in the world since the mid nineties -- but a bit of freshening up couldn't hurt, right? Among the many changes are reduced memory usage, improved performance and efficiency, and more finely-tuned caching support for high-traffic sites. If you want to know more, check out the source link below for an overview and full feature list. Well, what are you waiting for, Tanto... jump on it!

Tell the story of your social streams with Storify for iPad

Storify is an interesting, blogging-like platform that lets you tell your story by mixing together media from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and the web. The website has been around for a little while, but now it's also available on the iPad. Since most of the media included in your stories originated from a mobile device, it only makes sense to make the creation of these stories mobile as well.

Rumored iPad 3 glass and digitizer images reveal no major changes from iPad 2

We've seen a number of supposed iPad 3 parts recently, and this latest one shows the front glass and digitizer assembly with the layout remaining largely the same as that of the iPad 2, with no changes to the Home button, front-facing camera position or ambient light sensor arrangement. If the pictures, which come by way of Sina Weibo, are accurate, the only recognizable change is the ribbon cable on the side of the glass, which extends roughly half-way up the device as opposed to the iPad 2 which has a shorter cable with a sideways orientation.

Zooka Wireless Speaker

I’m currently looking for an extension speaker for my Thinkpad Tablet as the in-built speaker is pathetic (yes singular). That being said, I don’t want it connected all the time – only when I want to share watching a movie and the like.  I want it portable and rugged enough to take with me wherever I [...]
